Say Hello To a New Wave of Blue Belts ?
On Thursday, June 30th 2022, our academy held a summer belt promotion for our students.
If you have never attended a belt promotion ceremony, it’s a memorable moment where we get to acknowledge our student’s hard work and consistency in their efforts to master their craft.
We had a large group of students ready to level up to their next rank so it was truly enjoyable to put the spotlight on them and have them recognized for their hard work.
Congratulations to the following students on their promotion to Blue Belt!
Mike and Julianne
This dynamic duo of a married couple exemplify the essence of teamwork as they are dedicated students of the Jiu-Jitsu martial art on and off the mats. Whether it’s sharing the same training schedule or competing in a tournament together, there is no shortage of support when it comes to these two. Having a strong bond with your spouse or loved one is truly special and we’re thrilled to see how these two have benefited from our Jiu-Jitsu programs. I’m glad you chose our academy as your favorite destination for couple’s therapy ?
*Fun Fact* They are Procel BJJ’s 1st married couple to be promoted to the rank of Blue Belt ?
Mario
One of our young practitioners at the academy, Mario has been training at our academy since August of 2020. His interest in all things MMA and Jiu-Jitsu shows in his style of training given his his consistency and mental toughness, which makes him a great training partner to have sharpen your skill set. As an instructor, I see glimpses of myself in Mario as I also started my Jiu-Jitsu journey as a young adult in a sea of older/much larger sized practitioners. Happy to see his hard work pay off.
Diomark
Dio has been another hard working student in the room who has taken to the Jiu-Jitsu lifestyle on and off the mats. It’s no secret since joining our academy he’s definitely been bitten by the Jiu-Jitsu bug and finds any way to incorporate BJJ into his life. Aside from the technical knowledge Dio has gained from training at our academy, his physical health as definitely improved as training Jiu-Jitsu has helped him maintain a more active lifestyle that he can stick with long term. He’s even implemented the mindset training from Jiu-Jitsu into his business life as well.

Sunny
Coming off his 1st ever tournament performance, Sunny has certainly made great strides since beginning his training at our academy. When he first joined, he was coming off a long layoff away from Jiu-Jitsu, so it was essentially a fresh start for his Jiu-Jitsu journey. Not one to rush through the motions, Sunny has made great progress in transforming himself into the confident practitioner he is today. When you look back on how he started to where he is today, I am definitely proud of the level of commitment he’s put in to get to this point of his journey.
Rob
Whether it’s earning 1st place hardware at a tournament or embracing the grind of a tough training session, Rob has excelled in each area of his training. Rather than rushing through the process of earning the next rank, he has taken his time to really hone in his craft during his 1st year of BJJ. His consistency in his training routine definitely allowed him to excel to where he is today and he’s definitely a student who’s easy to coach and provide feedback to, making the process so much easier.
While he loves being in our training room, you can also catch Rob outside snapping quality photos or brewing up some refreshing beverages…like a Grapefruit Fizz ?

Ricardo
While Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was designed for the smaller practitioner to defend themselves against a much larger adversary, it’s refreshing to see a student who possesses a big physique not rely on size and strength alone. Ricardo has the right mindset when it comes to training: no ego in the training room and having an open mind that removes the fear of making mistakes. He’s embraced the characteristics of a good student and teammate by helping new students in class when he can and even playing “Little Guy Jiu-Jitsu” to prove that big guys aren’t just about raw power and size…but that they can even be graceful and technical as well ?.
Sofie
Our YOUNGEST student to earn the rank of Blue Belt at 16 years old, she has made great strides since joining our academy back in January of 2021. While I can write a short novel of how much she’s grown as an individual and shout from the roof top of how proud of her I am (don’t you worry, she’ll get her own separate spotlight post), I will keep this short and brief. The people at our academy have witnessed what great things she can accomplish. From stepping out of her comfort zone to help out with the kid’s class, to taking 1st place at her very 1st tournament, this belt promotion is a reflection of the hard work and transformation she’s gone through as a young lady.
Until the next belt promotion ceremony, here’s to many more days of success and progress on our academy mats!
