Promoting Our 1st Female Student to Blue Belt
We had a memorable evening full of promotions at our team picture event, but one promotion that stood out was awarding our student Julia with the rank of Blue Belt.
A truly special promotion as she becomes the 1st woman in our academy to earn the rank of Blue Belt .
If you’ve been following our growth as an academy, we come from very humble beginnings. Our academy was operating out of a small 600sqft space we were teaching classes out of part time. Although it wasn’t much, we had the necessities needed to host our classes.
Julia was there early on to see where we hosted our classes and agreed to come in for a trial class…except she accidentally arrived to our kid’s class instead of our adult class 😅. Unfortunately, she interpreted that error as a sign that maybe she shouldn’t try Jiu-Jitsu.
Being a female interested in training the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu can be intimidating at first sight, but the rewards are worthwhile when you commit to the process.
Fast forward to 2020, she came to a trial class in our adult program and the rest is history.
From her “1st” intro lesson to where she is today, Jiu-Jitsu has definitely given her a wealth of confidence that is hard to replicate.
The little bumps in the road along her BJJ journey were all necessary struggles to arrive to this moment.
Whether it was minor nagging physical injuries or those white belt mental blocks in her ability to comprehend the technique being shown, she stayed the course and is a much better person for it.
My wife Caitlin and I have been there to witness her growth as a student and are extremely proud of her achievement .
